New Year’s Eve impaired driving: How Utah ranks

SALT LAKE CITY – New Year’s Eve is typically one of the most dangerous times for people to be on the roads, and data compiled by SafeWise shows the states with the most impaired driving fatalities.

The numbers from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration place Utah near the bottom of the list at number 48, meaning roads are relatively safe on New Year’s Eve compared with the rest of the country. There were 1.71 deaths from impaired driving per capita, while Wyoming saw 7.6 deaths per capita.
