University Of Utah Farmers Market Enters Its 10th Season

SALT LAKE CITY – Another season of the University of Utah Farmers Market runs through October 5, every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tanner Plaza.

This time, the 10th season brings healthy and fresh produce, baked goods, crafts, salsa and more to Utahns looking to support local growers.

“The popular market excels at connecting students, faculty and staff with local farmers and food purveyors,” said Ayrel Clark-Proffitt, Farmers Market co-manager. But even more so, the market has become a space for community, where students hang out and interact with small business owners from the Salt Lake City metropolitan area.”

Students can participate in the market’s Double Your Dollars program this year, which is a $1-to-$1 match for produce or food items at the market.

The program allows those using food stamps and any University of Utah students to purchase tokens for $1, and then receive double the amount back.

For example, if a student purchases $10 worth of tokens, that student will receive $20 worth of tokens back for items like vegetables, fruit and baked goods.

More than 400 students participated in the program in 2016.
