Snowbird Oktoberfest: 7 Reasons You Should Go This Year

Over 60,000 people go to Oktoberfest at Snowbird each year. That’s a lot of beer.

It’s August, and you know what that means.

Even though it’s not yet October, we need to start preparing.

Oktoberfest in Utah has been named one of the 10 best in America… and for good reason.

Snowbird celebrates for 3 whole months, and provides plenty of family-friendly activities for those who want to escape the city and take in the fresh air of Little Cottonwood Canyon.

If you’re thinking about going to Utah’s Oktoberfest at Snowbird, here are 7 things you should check out this year:

1. Beer

The biergarten offers 50+ varieties of beer, including local favorites from Bohemian, Uinta and Squatters. Prost!

2. Food

Oktoberfest food includes bratwurst and weisswurst, spaetzle and sauerkraut. There are tables around the plaza, and a big tent with traditional dancing and music to enjoy your lunch.

3. Stuff For Kids

Summer activities for families include the Mountain Flyer and Alpine Slide, trampolines and the Aerial Tram.

4. Beard & Moustache Competition

Don’t miss the 4th Annual Beard and Moustache Competition on Aug. 12 from noon to 5 p.m. Register here.

5. Military Appreciation Weekends

Active and retired military and their immediate families can enjoy a free tram ride up to the top of the mountain each Saturday and Sunday from Aug. 12-20. Runs noon to 6:30 p.m. Information here.

6. Bratwurst Eating Championship

This year on Aug. 19 Snowbird is holding it’s first annual Bratwurst Eating Championship, and will host competitors from across the country. Utah’s own Colisimo’s will provide the sausage, and the prize is $4,000. Details here.

7. Live Music
